The RCT is a great car but it would be quite expensive to import, do you have to pay tax Europe-----)USA?
all the best

Tax wise, I'm not sure what the situation would be. As it is used, I would assume the only tax would be registration. The problem w/that car is I see it is airbag delete and I'd assume its at least a 92-93 and I believe airbags (at least driver side) were in by then.
The coverted cost was about $68kUSD. You figure you can get a nice used C2 in US for $20kUSD-$25kUDSD and then start w/the conversion which engine alone is $$30kUSD. That only leaves you $13k for some suspension, wheels, seats, etc. No Ruf 6 speed, but you can install a used 993 gearbox for $4k-$5k USD.
I still can't decide between 930 BTR or a 964 RCT. I certainly can appreciate the better a/c, suspension, etc. w/the RCT. I understand, however, that the BTR is quicker...

Where you getting all the $$$. The conversion is $30k....actually $29,999.00 A high mileage car you can add between $2k and $5k. Shipping to De is $2.5K there and back?
Add the tail $1k....
Clutch maybe another $600-$800
I've already got the turbo brakes, suspension bits, etc.
So how do you get to $80k?????
Are you sending it to him to restore the car as well?

You were right about "just the engine," but I don't think they will do a partial conversion. You should check with Ruf. Anyway, by the time you do all the work they recommend and ship it over there and back, it's closing in on $60k. Here's the list:
22+4.8+3.1+4+2.5+1=37.4 *1.3euros/dollar = 48.6K USD
Don't forget that still isn't motronic, but based on the stock 993 engine management (which doesn't even "know" it's under boost, it just follows a fuel map). It's a "mapped" engine management vs. an iterative one...

Actually, those prices are in dollars according to Wayne at RUF Auto centre. In addition, I would do a non factory turbo tail for 1,500. I would do your own Big Brake upgrade for a lot less, and the RUF wheels, could be taken or not.
I think that gets it down into the high 30's. Also, I don't understand the thought that it is NOT motronic. That does not jive with the conversation that I had with Alios a couple years ago. He actually converted the 964's Motronic system to be utilized by the turbo when Porsche was still using CIS.
At the end of the day, RUF conversions are actually a pretty good value. The name carries a lot more re-sale value than others doing turbo kits on older 993 and 964's. In addition, his HP gains are typically VERY conservative.

Stephen:
It would be the motronic conversion. As far as a "deal" you are right. You get a 12k or 14k warranty + a new engine back.
I was on the verge of buying a 930 BTR and had I done that I would have gone to EFI...can't beat the technology.
Did you say you had your's converted?...if so how do you like it.
Thanks

Can you clarify the RCT Evo Upgrade? When you say you get a new engine it begs the question of what's included in that upgrade. If it is a full rebuild/refresh + engine management, at $22K, it looks like an incredible bargain.
And I thought they sent Ruf technicians to the states for these conversions...I guess it is cheaper to fly an engine to Germany than a person to the States

I'd like to see the real numbers too. I asked specifically and Wayne told me the quote of $22k for the engine was in euros. Keep in mind that isn't apples to apples either. You've got to pull the engine out, crate it, ship it to europe (any VAT in there? not sure) and then re-install it when it comes back. That's got to be at least $5k USD in incremental cost.
My understanding is that they use the stock fuel management system which doesn't "know" it's under boost but just has different maps, but I may be wrong.

I HAVE A RUF RCT FOR SALE
Hi
I am thinking of selling my RCT.
It started life as 1991 C2 narrow body converted in 1999 to a RUF RCT (by RUF in Germany). Conversion includes, 3.6 twin plug Turbo engine with Motronic, 6 speed RUF transmition, RUF brakes (big reds in front, turbo rear), Ruf Nurburgring suspension, 18' Ruf wheels, Ruf green gauges, fixed turbo tail, Ruf airbag steering wheel
Color is amazon green.
32,000 miles since the conversion.
Previous owner is a personal friend of Ruf. I bought the car a few months ago from him in Santa Barbara CA. I intended to turn it into a DE car but have decided to purchase a cup car instead. I am the second owner, but have not registered the car.
I have all books and records and Ruf documentation since 1991.
Car is located in New Canaan CT.
The price is $59,000.00 firm

The price is $30k for the conversion of the engine alone. High mileage you need to add $3k to $5k. On top of that there's the shipping to and from De which is anothere$ 2.5k. Also they want you to use one of their clutches which is $800.00
Thanks,
Thanks,
