Does anybody make an A-Pillar gauge pod for 911's?
?? I have had them in other cars I've owned but have not seen any for the 930. I would like to get a boost and EGT gauge to put in there. Does anybody have a source? Stephen?

I don't think that if the gauges are NEEDED that it's ricey at all. I don't think hood scoops when needed are hokey and I don't think wings are silly if the car can actually use them.
If you use generic guidelines, then 930's are in trouble: add on flares, ground effects, large wings, loud exhaust and wheel spacers. All if used in the right way make a beautiful car. If used incorrectly, then we have a Civic with a hoodscoop, large Al wing mounted poorly to a heavy CF trunk balanced only by the clear hood covering the electrically boosted 1.6l engine exhausting through a large coffee can tip riding on rims pushed out by spacers.

Just take the cardboard set that the gauge comes in. They almost always set them in a tube. Cut the end off and mount is on a piece of board the size of the pillar. Glue it, staple it doesn't matter. Make sure that you have it in the position you want and the gauge fits. Now take speaker grill like from radio shack and cover the whole thing. Board and tube. Staple it to the back of the board. Mix up fiberglass rosin and paint the speaker grill. Lay is on thick!! Once dry cut the hole to the gauge and sand the body of the pillar mount until smooth. Either paint or cover with leather or vinyl. That's it. You can make gauges, door panels, speaker extensions etc this way.

I've owned a lot of fun cars in my life and the one thing I've learned is that it is MY car and I can modify it any way I want to. I got rid of my low milage, no scratch, no blemish, totally original Carrera and bought my well used and modified 930. I want to put the 930S rear vents on it as well as the rockers because I think it's cool and have always liked the vents but not the slantnose. Being original for a lot of owners is not a big deal. Infact, if you were to go buy a 930 today, I think most of us would opt for the car with all of the redos that Porsche should have done in the first place. I can follow a truck and pass him when a small space opens up because I,m not worrying my self sick about rock chips and other debris. I tear down dirt roads and skid the Beast at will because I am not worrying about the original paint.
Bottom line mod it and enjoy it!

A MITSUBICHI aftermarket cup can be adapted, remove the vin number, move it up re-install it, measure the post purchase the one is the closes one and mold it with a heat gun, for a nice finish cover it with leather, mounted on the post with doubble sided tape from 3m. thats how I did mine.
Hope this helps
