Has anyone here done this? Other than the added sound is there any performance gain? I live and drive my car where I don't have to worry about the sound. Does anyone sell something like this?

Go look at my rebuild pics (link is in my signature). You can also watch/listen to the videos dated 11/9 on my track videos link (also in my signature).
It's loud, especially at low RPMs, but not obnoxious I don't think. Sounds killer on the track!

Who's IC is that? Custom? C2 unit? Promotive?
Looks just like the one that was being offered on E-Bay about 3 weeks ago by some guy who had no clue what it was, just that it came off a buddy's '87.

The intercooler is custom. Core is from Bell Intercoolers. I had a guy build it locally - same guy that made the turbo dump pipe.

Stratman, you can buy a straight thru, turbo dump pipe from FabSpeed.com for around $300 USD. It's already fabricated for a K27, so it's a direct bolt-on. The Turbo should spool up a bit quicker (few hundred RPM's sooner) without a muffler and you should see some nice flames out of that dump pipe

I'm using a straight pipe too. It actually sets of fewer alarms than when I had a minimal muffler on it. Less resonance I guess. The sound is pure 'high tech race car'. Better than any muffler!
I drive it to work downtown and park underground. And it's fine - below 3000 rpm that is. Over that it gets pretty loud. It's not the loudest car out there though. If I see a cop, I just idle by carefully. I've had to deal with cops behind me in traffic. I'm careful and have not been stopped yet.
It also gets a lot of heat out of the engine bay. A lot!

I had an old stock muffler with all of the guts removed and twin 3" pipes added. Because of the resonance it actually seemed louder than the straight pipe. It had a lot more bass to the sound and was much more likely to set off burglar alarms.
The turbo does such a good job of muffling that I currently run with no muffler and get away with it. The wastegate is the loudest part now because it bypasses the muffling effect of the turbo.
Boost creep has nothing to do with the muffler and everything to do with the wastegate plumbing. Boost creep is the inability of the wastegate plumbing to vent off the boost. It could be a restrictive wastegate. It could be the pipe leading to the wastegate is too small and is restricting the flow. It could be the design of how the wastegate pipe meets the secondaries. I like Steve's Kaspar's line that it is like rolling down your window at 100mph and wondering why the air isn't blowing in. The way the GHL wastegate pipe meets the header is terrible that way. Maybe it's fine on a stockish motor but it certainly doesn't work very well as you approach 500hp.
