I found what I think is a good deal on a 1981 911 (930) Turbo with very low mileage and all original condition. Only problem is I know little to nothing about what I should look for in such a car. I understand these are "grey market" cars. Could someone enlighten me on what I should look for in such a car? Fair price?
Thanks in advance!

The most important thing to look out for with a grey market car is the federalization record.
It can be very expensive to bring a non-US spec car up to snuff with regulations.
Ensure that it was done right and by a credible shop.
Other than that, the usual things to look out for with any 930 or 911 and pay the $150 for a pre-purchase inspection at a reputable P-car shop and youre good to go.
Although they do not estimate grey market car values, this month's Market Update in Excellence states the value for a 1979 930 Coupe as:
Poor: $22,256
Good: $25,305
Excellent: 33,875
Likewise, the 1986 930 Coupe is listed as:
Poor: $23,841
Good: $27,107
Excellent: $36,288
I figure the owner of an 81 grey 930 would probably let it go for around or just below 1979 US prices.
