Default Oil separator

What, if any, advantage is there to the oil separator fitted to 86 and later 930s? Is there any gain in backfitting it to an earlier car? Will it help with water condensation in the crankcase vent? How much water condensation is acceptable in the crankcase ventilation system? I am finding it (the white foamy kind) on the turbo vent hose (which connects to the rear of the air box) and in the crankcase vent (near the oil filler neck). I have a '77 with 65,000 miles, original p/c's and acceptable oil consumption (less than a quart in 2,000 miles).

Thanks.
