Default 930 Wheels

So I've found a couple threads on this, but nothing too recent. Wanted to see what the latest info is.

I just lucked into a black 87 930, and I couldn't be happier. I want to keep some of the originality, but also want to make it my own. The first thing I want to update is the wheels. It has some aftermarket wheels from around the 90s that aren't bad, but I think I can do better. Kind of want to go with a black Fuchs replica, but open to suggestions. Also want to get a bit bigger wheel that can fit more tire options today, but don't want to go too big. Definitely want to fill out those wonderful fenders. I'm thinking 17x9 front and 17x11 rear. Not sure on offsets, but I saw someone suggested +29 front and +17 rear.

So where to get these? Seems like Fikse are a good choice? Any other suggestions? The Magnus Walker wheels would be in the running as well if they were still being manufactured. In fact, I have a red narrow body 84 yearning for a set of gold ones! Anyone selling some?? Also, post pics! Love seeing our community's cars! Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your need 930. I have 17 inch Ruf wheels. They fill the fender wells properly and the car handles great.

I'm a big fan of Rufs. They look fantastic.

Here's a shot of my car (taken by someone else) on Fikse Fuchs. 17x9 & 17x11

Both look great! I've been playing with the idea of doing the RSR finish, and your car may have convinced me, Noah930!

Here's what she looks like now. Needs some work, but I'm willing!

That's a good looking set of wheels, too, kayak. 18"? They look more 90's modern than Fuchs or even the Rufs (which are somehow timeless IMO). I think Panasports and Campys also look pretty good on these cars. There's also the classic BBS basketweave. Work (Brombacher?) had a good looking basketweave IIRC. I've seen some cars look good on CCWs.

Besides aesthetics, how much of a wheel snob are you? (Because these are the things that are probably more important on paper than in real life.) Is weight important? The Fikses are pretty light. The Rufs (IIRC) are somewhat heavy. Not sure about the Panasport and Campy replicas. Does it have to be forged aluminum? Or is cast OK?

Thanks! They aren't bad, but like you said, they are more 90's than I'd like. And I do think a little more sidewall looks better, so I'll downsize from the 18s to 17s. I also want to drop the suspension a bit. It's a little high for me right now.

I actually have a quote out from Fikse for your exact wheels. Love the RSR look. I wouldn't consider my self a wheel snob, but I do want quality. I think the Fikse wheels check all the boxes. Plus, I can talk to someone who knows about fitment at the company. This won't be the first 930 set they've produced.

Fikse Fuchs wheels for the win! And heads-up, in ~9 months, you will receive a love letter from your state asking you to pay the import duties on those sexy wheels, or else!

Those are perfect, Igooz!! That's the fitment I'm looking for. Just got off the phone with the Fikse rep. He's working up a quote and knows how to fit the 930 properly. Thanks for the advice!

The PO of my 930 sold the Fuchs and installed Fikse FM10s. They are super light and nicely balanced. I've been looking for Fuchs but the price for used originals is getting out of range. I'll likely go with the Fikse repo. that Igooz and Noah have. I prefer the look of less rim and more rubber in the wells on these old classics, (17" wheel is as big as I'll go), respecting that personal taste is...personal.

I have these on my car, 17’, near new. I’m replacing them with Ruf’s for my turbo cab to build a twin to my BTR. What are they worth?
