Cylinder head height tolerances
I got my cylinder heads from the shop today. I just wonder if anyone know what are the tolerances in height between the surface agains the cylinder and the surface that seal against the camshaft box? this might affect the probablilty of oil leaks from the cam housings. No gasket is used either. Would 0.06 mm difference be too much on the measure 84.30mm in average? I have measured four points, two at the exhaust valve and two at the inlet valve. the difference i have is between 0.01 and 0.08 mm on the same head and 0.11 mm max between the heads.
thanks

No, put what you have to watch is the alignment of the chain boxes.
Just make sure you use Loctite 574 and orings on the rocker shafts and it should be leak free.

Your post regarding the head seal is all effected by the Head heights too. Your numbers are on the high side to be safe. Good machining here can get with o.ooo5 ins. Any difference can and possibly show up later as a problem. Remember to measure from the sealing surface to the Cam deck face. Any amount taken off the sealing surface should always be taken off the lower face to keep the clearance between the Cylinder the same.
