Thought you had it on Ebay before? I guess you didn't get what you wanted.

I've been following the 930s on Ebay for a few months now trying to get an idea of what's selling for what, and I have yet to see the first instance of anyone getting their reserve price. Most of the bids seem like a joke. I'm beginning to think this is a waste of time trying to track pricing this way (for what it's worth, it doesn't look like 930s are moving any better at Hemmings, Par Porsche or the Dupont Register either, but at least I can get an idea of what people are asking).

Has anyone successfully bought or sold a 930 on Ebay? Is it the economy? Is there a sudden glut of 930s out there? Good for me as a buyer, but still . . .

What a beast. I love it! Great description. I appreciate the honesty in the listing. Before I bought my 930, I found that many of the listings on EBAY were deceptive and that thorough PPIs were the only way to filter the diamonds from the rough.

Dan, going to the PCA mart is a good gauge for what people are asking and usually getting close to. I found mine through a local chapter and paid more than i would have on EBAY, but it was local, i could check it out in person and the previous owner was around to stand behind the car.

I didn't buy mine on EBay, but it was being sold on Ebay at the time I bought it. The highest bid it received on EBay was around $26,800 I think. There was a reserve on it for $33,000 the owner later told me after I ended up buying it for $31,800. Being local, $31,800 in the hand was probably better than potentially that or higher on crossed fingers from an EBay winner on the other side of the country so he took it.

I had been inquiring about the car before it appeared on EBay. Just so happened one day it showed up there as I had already scheduled a PPI for it. I guess the owner wanted a backup plan.

Its tough to throw your wallet at $20-$35K cars especially finicky cars like 930s on the web site unseen. Personally Id never buy a Yugo on EBay sight unseen unless it was just so much of a steal even if half the car was rotted I would still get my moneys worth. Being able to kick the tires, take it for a spin, and such is piece of mind that is sometimes priceless.

Photos and a few paragraphs just cannot do enough. Clever photography, odd angles, and good writing can hide thousands of dollars in problems. Its an art form. I drove 400 miles round trip on a previous 930 that looked concours in the photos. When I got there I about cried.

Eventhough I look on Ebay a lot for cars, its deceptive in terms on getting actual prices. People do bid on them, however 95% does not meet the reserve or asking price so people who look and see the current bid thinks the car is only worth that much.

Hello,

E-bay seems to be a market unto itself, UDPride seems to have
described the mentality of an E-bay buyer. They will only buy it if
they have allowed a huge margin of error pricewise.

I have buyers quoting E-bay prices ALL the time but they would never
buy off of E-bay.

I had my 76 930 on a couple of times, did not get anyone who I felt
was a serious buyer.

Try Autotrader and Collecter Car trader. Also look through all the P-Car web sites classified adds. I would also look in Panarama and Excellence to get a better Idea of P-car values. Auto trader and Collecter Car trader are Two of the best used vehicle sites on the web.
