Ya don't see these every day...the 959 Komfort edition

I came across this link when perusing the Hemmings Motor News today while my wife and her family were taking advantage of the big sales at the local mall. Take note of the name listed on the key fob..."GATES." I understand that Mr. Bill Gates is quite the Porsche fanatic and has amassed a large collection since Microsoft's IPO (note to self...biggest understatement of the 21st century). At any rate, I wonder if this vehicle is one of his cars. What a beauty it is...and only $275,000 obo

Look for the 88 959 link...

ps.
I ususally hang out on the 928 Forum...just thought the 911 turbo list might like to
see this link. If not, moderator, please delete...

I'd be surprised if it was! I know that Bill has/had a 959 that he has been trying to ceritify for years. Bruce Canepa worked on the Certification which was helped by Bill's legal team lobbying for changes in some DOT regulations exempting limited production vehicles from crash testing(or something to that effect.) I'd be dissappointed if after all that work he decided he didn't want it. Perhaps he had more than one.

Bill got his in country. I have seen it at the dealer for maintenance and being driven around by his car maintenance guy. A nice silver 959 in perfect shape.

Hi Fellas,
Thanks for your thoughts on the 959 I saw in HMN. I cross-posted this on the 928 Forum as well and it yielded some additional comments you may be interested in seeing. If so, here's the link:

I love the 959...I know where one is in the Midwest and stopped to show my girlfriend the car and we both just stood there and gazed. It is such a beautiful car and so significant in the history of automobiles in general. I would love to ride in one.
