Quick update on the topic of this thread...as well as a question.

With the Hubs mounted back on the Discs, and clamped in a bench vise, the Grease Seals came out with ease using the Seal Puller, so that's all sorted.

The question I have, is in regards to cleaning the Bearings and Hubs for a repack... Can I use Kerosene in my buddies parts washer to do this?? If the answer is yes, then can I also use Kero to clean off my calipers/bores/pistons?? I'm doing a caliper rebuild along with everything, and finally got a chance to got the pistons out last night, with very minor surface corrosion in a couple bores, to my relief.

Cam, I don't think I've seen kerosene in 30 years. Isn't that a heating fuel? I think I used MEK and Brakleen on my calipers and dogs.

 

hahaha. It looked funny typing it too. Brake cleaner worked just fine. Everything is all cleaned up, time to start putting the fresh bits in.

I have a full set of Carrera calipers and almost new vented Zimmerman rotors sitting in my shop waiting for someone that needs to upgrade an SC. Even have the MC.

What year car are they from? My stock fronts are a very rainbow cad and the rears are an almost rusty black or brown color but shiney. I like yours. Yours make me think of white zinc like they've already been refurbished once in their lives.

Yeah I didn't have one handy. The good news is when o grab the kit it's like 10 minutes work. To be honest I'm not impressed with the pads I got so I'm going back in anyway.

 

You might get some ate caliper grease, and check out the 20 degree alignment tool.

Now that is funny. TV recycling commercials have old soda cans talking about coming back to life as something useful like a bicycles.....your Porsche roadside assistance card was recycled into a tool of far greater value.
