I'm interested in this 911 for sale with a 993 motor and a few other changes. What would a reasonable price be for this car and does anyone know anything about the history of it? Should I be concerned about anything?

Smokin' deal. Will sell quickly at that price. Too bad about the interior color.

difficult to be sure about "history", don't think it has a history except modifications, I would be concerned about everything, get a PPI.

Big Blacks in the front and stock in the back???

Does it have sevens front and back?

Seats are different colors??

I would be concerned about the dealer selling it. A quick google search should tell you everything you need to know. :burnout:

Thanks for all the info. I've never owned an air-cooled Porsche but it is starting to sound more complicated than owning their newer models. Does this just look like too big of a risk for someone with limited air-cooled knowledge?

I always do PPI's but my last one done by a Porsche dealership in Chicago ended up being worthless, I did it out of state and I don't think the dealership even looked at the car, just took my money and fed me some BS.

I always assume that dealers lie about everything but after reading the thread that bv shady posted I'm starting to think that the people who do PPIs lie like the dealers.

Should i try to get the car for a much lower price than asking since it sounds like there may be a bunch of issues that may come up over time, or should I just forget about it and move on?

I have PPI's completed by my trusted Porsche independent mechanic who specializes mainly in air cooled. I am always present when they are performed. Dealerships often don't see many air-cooled and may not be versed in the ins and outs of what too look for when doing a PPI. This car screams for a thorough PPI due to a lot of factors..............

If you got the resources and time, bring the car to a reputable indy aircooled specialist in the area that isn't affiliated with that dealership. If you are planning on doing the transaction sight unseen and trusting the dealer and their connections I would seriously consider moving on. Plenty of good cars from reputable sellers/dealers out there. Best of luck with your search.

^^^^ Ya this is not a car you buy before you get to know personally. Would be worth air and hotel for a couple days.

Did they respray the entire car or just the bumpers and dicktail? How loud is that exhaust? Did they use a stiffer than stock pressure plate that you are ok with? Is the OBDI /engine management intact or cut to shreds? Are the mis-matched brakes even relatively balanced? What T-bars and bushings does it have? .....and a dozen other must ask questions need to be answered and that dealership isn't going to answer any of them for you.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to think about it for a couple weeks and if the car is still available and I still want it I fly out there and get it checked out.

Above is good advice my issue is all the mods. They make maintenance more of a challenge.

i would sugguest looking for something more stock and then you modify it the way you want it.

What in particular do you see that concerns you?
