Nice. Has Dave Pateman contacted you? He keeps a pretty extensive database on early vine and chassis numbers and engines etc. he would be interested in adding your car to his data. If he hasn't seen your early S thread and reached out, ping me if you want his contact. He's a great resource on many things old 901.

Wow, that's very kind of RL editors to put this on the front page, I had no idea but thanks for that.
As far as missing carbs (you'll notice there's a carb hiding in the back seat pic) and mismatched interior panels ...the car obviously has some history which included some weird modifications which I'm sure made sense to someone decades ago. The key thing however is that the frame, engine, and transmission numbers match as per the Kardex, and it is a July 1965 build which makes it a true 65.
Very happy to have found her ... I'll formulate a restoration plan in the next few weeks.

Wow! So exciting and congrats! I would wager the engine is original. Engine vin numbers are about 100 or so higher in sequence compared to the vin, Like this one.
It'll be interesting to find the build date. About 2000 are true 1965 cars. If built in July its a true US 1965 model year, if Sept. it's 66 model year. No cars in August for vacation time.....and in Europe all cars sold in 65 regardless are a 65. Get ready to fall down the rabbit hole!!!!
Dont waste your time on the COA. Sometimes these are incorrect. Get your hands on the Kardex. Henk at CarParc was assisting with this for wooddash cars, maybe still is.
Flip, concourse restoration, sport purpose build... either way have a blast!!!!! Stoked for ya!

It could be the last one out the door before the holiday! July 30th 1965 was a Friday.

I think I'm in love with this car already!
In the UK, barn finds are fast becoming rare with everyone and their wife hunting down every rumour and as a result, rusty unrestorable buckets are going for silly money in the first place so it is nice to see something that has potential to be worth a restore. I've given up on getting a 1969 911 at some point in my life :-(
Hopefully you'll do it over time and then keep it and enjoy it, I wish I was in your position. Subscribed.
Oh, and well done for forcing me to break my lurking record of 5 years 3 months

Must've forgot these..
And 2 days before, on July 28th 1965, Pres. Johnson sent 50,000 more troops to Vietnam.
And July 30th, 1863 Henry Ford was born.
1974..The U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee voted to impeach President Nixon for blocking the Watergate investigation and for abuse of power.
2003 - In Mexico, the last 'old style' Volkswagon Beetle rolled off an assembly line
That's gold Jerry!
OP, hope you end up with a really nice car when done.
