Ideas for performance enhancements for 1987 911 Carrera
My Red 1987 911 Carrera G50 runs well. I’ve had it for about 2 ½ years and enjoyed it on the street, for autocross and a couple of DEs. Now I would like to try some lighter performance enhancements.
I was thinking the following:
-Dansk Sport Muffler, Dual Inlet With Dual Tips, For 911® Carrera S Porsche®, 1983-1989
-Headers, Performance Products, Motorsports (1-5/8”), for 911 Porsche 1965-1989, Eliminate Heater Box from Automotion? Or, Headers, Bursch 1-5/8", For 911® Porsche®, 1965-1989 from Pelican Parts.

Would the above be a good combination? Performance wise? Sound wise?
Suggestions and comments are appreciated .
Suggestion(s) for air intake?
Thanks

SW has some dyno data on gains for various headers on his site which is a good comparison chart.
You have lots of intake options such as Carbs, ITB's or 964/993 intake manifold but not sure it's worth the cost with standard cams as that will be your bottleneck and then the US pistons. So as suggested you'd be better off focusing on shedding some weight and upgrading the suspension. It's pretty easy to shed 8-9% weight and even with the limited power gains via headers circa 6-7% it will add up to a 15% power to weight ratio increase.

That being said, if you are after a solid driving experience improvement on and off the autocross course then performance/sound upgrades will move up the priority list. These cars from factory are very restrictive with the exhaust and software, intake a bit too. We put together a Sport Performance Package that hit the basics right off the bat (Catbypass, Maxflo Cat-Back Exhaust, Cup Airbox, Steve Wong DME Chip). This will be the best bang for the buck on the performance upgrades for you, and its the most popular combination of exhaust products for sound improvement that we offer.

Yep, all good suggestions. My personal favorite mods were the Wevo shifter and 930S steering wheel. If you don't have sport seats, then start test fitting a few before buying. The area of car feedback and driver's controls such as an adjustable gas pedal may not lower your lap times much or at all, but they are dollar for dollar perhaps the most rewarding. I also think of the cat bypass with a second O2 bung as a testing essential tool "must have", more so than a performance upgrade.
