Default What is the technical name for this part?

I think of it as a snorkel, but you can see what I am talking about in the photo below. It is attached to the air cleaner and reaches down to the left in the picture.
The large black plastic unit with two brass clamps attached.
It is the same unit on the '73 RS as the '76 Carrera, as the engines are the same.

Porsche calls it a "Hose".

Its right there in the PET for $83. Same one for '72-'76 MFI engines.

I can't believe that whole unit is only $83, I was thinking it might be around $800 - $900.

Its called a thermo valve, or flapper. Most of us took them off. They are available used for around 150-200.
It feeds warm air from the exhaust to the engine until the engine is warmed up.

Perfect. I understand it robs about 5 hp, but I am looking for one just for the shows. So far I have not even seen a photo of just the unit itself, on the internet.
Thanks

The pipe is a rubber hose that connects between the valve and the air snorkel. As Steve said that is available from Porsche still, different diameter ends

So, is the original part a Thermo flapper/valve or air snorkel?

I think the flapper part is technically called the air intake regulator, part number 911-108-015-00.

I see that there is a lever involved and I need to explore on how and where the connection for the lever is.
