Default Ever missed a car so bad it hurt?

Five years ago after six years of ownership, I sold my '88 911. And as I've seen posted by others around here, I regretted the decision almost immediately--and almost daily--since.

Here's that '88 in my auto-crossing days...

About a month ago, a similar car--an '87--reached out to me from the Rennlist classifieds.

Long story short, here she is being loaded by the seller last night before heading on a 900-mile trip to my driveway...

Excited?!?

Ya think?

(PS While I don't post financial details on the inTraWeb, yes, the inflation was my loss. That said, I figured I'd rather have this car in my garage than look at numbers in a Fidelity account.)

Yes I have! That's why I bought another 993!
I am in a much better financial position nowadays so I know that I can afford to keep the car in pristine condition if anything happen!
That makes me feel a lot more relaxed!

I use to say that a 911 cost like a girlfriend to run but to be honest I spend twice as much on my 911!

Well if you ever decide to sell the '96 C4S or one of those '69T's -

Something about the aircooled cars. They just seem to have so much soul.

I had an '87 Targa many years go, I sold it, regretted it and in 2013 purchased an '87 Coupe, I get cabin fever and think about selling it to "move up", for example, a 2002-03 996 TT X50. But I remain faithful to the '87 and all who have seen it say: Do Not Sell! And I agree the aircooled soul is addicting.

Last year i was offered 45K for my 89 coupe which i've owned for 8 years now ... have to admit the thought of selling at one point did cross my mind and it would have funded the race car for a few years but then what ???

I've read many posts on here and Pelican where people most always regretted selling their first Porsche, thankfully i quickly came to my senses and kept it
Nice air cooled cars have skyrocketed in value and i would be kicking myself had i ever wanted to get another one at some point !

About six years ago, I was on the verge of selling my 1985 911, which I had owned since new, so that I could move on to a 997.2. I had certain financial parameters in mind, and wanted to avoid debt. I ended up ordering a base 997.2 with manual transmission rather than an "S" with PDF etc, and that saved me enough money so that I could keep my beloved 1985.

I'm so glad I went that route; the base 997 is fabulous, and, of course, so is the 1985. The only problem: every day I am faced with the question, which 911 do I drive today?

it seems every time I am out someone is offering to buy my car so I have become kind of immune to the thought of selling it as I always smile say "no I don't think so" and move on.
