Great car! Glad to be in the Marine Blue club! I'd argue the G series are appreciating nicely, and the g50 is very sought after! Not sure it's "collectable" like a 2.7 RS or the like, but very desirable and beautiful! I really enjoy mine and the second 911 in my "collection"... by my measure actually they are collectible! Just sold myself!

Gotta agree. Your buddies are off.

Pre 90 body, g50, no 89 detune, shoulder belts in the back, improved targa seals... 88 was, IMHO the best air cooled targa they made. Took me a year to find an 88. (Also wanted no tail, not red)

Every nut, bolt, bracket, or doohickey I touch on my car gets plated before it goes back on.....or it gets swapped out for one that's already done. NW997's car has obviously been treated with the same level of detail. I've now got a local source for real rainbow cad....looking forward to seeing how it compares to the yellow zinc I've been using.

^ who's your source? :-) I'm dropping my 89 engine and replacing all the fuel and rubber lines. I want to do a bunch of cad plating while there too.

Gustavo at Real Plating in Pomona is a customer and has promised to take care of me when the time comes.

Everything I've done so far has been with Einmalig in Huntington Beach. PM me when the time comes and I'll give you my number and tell you what I usually do.

Your car is really great looking, congrats. I've been looking for my first air cooled 911 for a couple of months. I originally wanted an '82 SC because that's the year I graduated from H.S. After a lot of thought and research I've changed my mind. I will be buying an '87-'89 G series as soon as I find the right car. Best of luck with yours.

Hope to take that same shot the weekend of March 9-13th while celebrating my 50th birthday. My grandfather was born in the city right after the earthquake. Not surprisingly my grandfather helped build that bridge. As crazy as it sounds my grandfather's father and grandfather and great grandfather all died before their 30th birthdays so to reach my age is a real accomplishment in this family.
