Default Fresh Air Intake? Water Drainage?

I assume the attached is where the ventilation system gets its fresh air. Obviously water gets in as well, so adequate drainage must be designed into the system.
I am trying to find a minor leak in my 86' cab which wets the floors when I wash the car with excessive amounts of water, or if the car is in very heavy rain. The windshield seals appear perfect, and there are no signs the leak originates from that high up.
I haven't lifted the grate to see what drainage tubes are there, but what have others done from a preventative maintenance standpoint in this area?

There are two places I've seen leak - the windshield seal and the front vent you pictured. If you take the grill off, you'll see how the air routes in and the drain. In my SC, I sealed several gaps between the body and intake with silicone sealant, and that stopped rain coming in that way.

If you open the bonnet and look under the catch pan directly under the air inlet you will see a black drain hose which is routed down through the body so water in the catch pan drains onto the street.

Age is not kind to this hose so it oftentimes is broken or cracked, it may also simply be plugged up with debris.

Weedeater string makes a good tool to root debris from those drain hoses and make sure they're clear.
