I am going to upgrade the torsion bars on my 911, 3.2. I have planed to install 23 mm Sander tubular bars in the front and 29 mm Porsche compact bars in the aft.
I am wondering about this combination and what thickness will there be on a solid bar that have the same stiffness as the 23 mm Sander tubular?

Hi:
You did not state whether your car is a street or race car but if it were me, I would use 22mm and 29mm tubular bars for street use and 23mm 31mm for track use.
I have never heard of "Porsche compact bars" as the largest ones they made were the 26mm ones from the 930.
We only use the Sander Engineering tubular ones and they match up with each other very nicely.

Two things...look at the Tech section of Rennlist where I post some thoughts on various TB sizes. Summary is basically that most people go for 21/27...or 22/28...but this maintains the inherent understeering characteristics of the car. Maybe 21/28 ( even 29)...or 22/29 ( even 30) might be a better match up.
Steve...right...as from the factory, the 26 rears on the Turbo were the largest bars offered...but...the SCRS can be had with upwards of 27, 28 and 29 rear bars...from the factory ( as add'l pieces). I know, only 20 SCRS were built...but there *are* larger factgory bars available.

I have 21/29 solid bars on mine and like the setup a lot as a street/part-time track car. I run Koni adjustables with stock anti-roll bars, Weltmeister poly bushings and it has been lowered a bit.
If it's just a street car, you may want to slde back a size.. mine's a bit stiff on the street.

I don't know about the particular brand you are shopping for, but usually the tubular bars come with an equivalent thickness translation to a solid bar.
How do you folks feel about 21/27 as a street combo on an SC?
I always read 22/28 or 29 for the SC but am wondering if I shouldn't go milder.
