Working on an 1974 911 - looks like it had a bad Battery leak. Literally nothing was holding up the drivers side torsion bar. Insanity! I've started drilling out spot welds but wouldn't mind more guidance. Ive picked up the front pan, a lateral support and the front torsion bar caps. Everything to do the repair properly
Anyone repair this themselves before want to chime in with some tips or mistakes I want to avoid? I've found some pretty helpful threads too and they have been great.
Id also post some pictures but my post count hasn't reached 5 yet.
There is a guy on here from Toronto ( I think his user name might be 500 ) that did exactly what you did. I have seen that car and he did an amazing job and won the concour event.
reach out to him if you can find him as he documented everything here.
I think the key obviously is getting the suspension points lined up perfectly. you may need to build some sort of alignment jig using yours BEFORE you take yours off.
This is generally not considered a DIY project. Any welding has to be done on a jig. It's called a Cellete Jig and they're not all that common. I think the going price to buy one is in the area of $10,000 +
