There are no old Porsches...
Just new owners!
Well I finally did it, after a good year of shopping I bought my second Porsche and my first 911, an air cooled one no less! I got a deal on a well cared for '84 cab with 90K miles with a 40% LSD. I really wanted an '87-'89 but could not pass this one up.
The projects start now. First off are the hood and deck lid shocks. I took all three out and debating through Pelican or through Porsche.
Next is the sound / heat barrier foam in the engine bay. I've done some research and this looks like a common issue. Since I don't plan on dropping the engine anytime soon I thing I'll look for some sort of adhesive.
After that comes the reupholstering of the seats and a new top and cover!
There truly is no substitute!

Nice ! i just got hold of an '84 Coupe w/ 95k miles. Seats are in good shape but burnished and color gone on the side. Gonna keep it original. Otherwise interior & paint in good shape. Slight weeping oil leak near cylinder #6, a drop of oil after each run - mechanic not concerned and waiting till valve adjustment to address. His first three suggestions with this car is, drive it, enjoy it and drive it. I think I'll take his advice 😎

The engine compartment insulation is usually a problem of the foam itself degrading, which is not easily remedied by adhesive. You can get it out and replaced if you remove the air filter and heater blower motor. The biggest challenge is dealing with crumbling falling old foam
