help with front wing for backdate project
Hi guys.
I am planning a backdate project and trying to sort all things before putting my hands on the job. The idea is a singer inspired 911.
I would like to keep the original parts as much as possible BUT i am not sure about the front wing if that is possible because of the turn signal casing and considering that the project will run on an 81 911. So here is the question (hope you understand what i mean): do you think it's possible to keep the original wing, find a way to fix under headlights the turn signal casing and weld the missing part between the end of turn signal and wheel arch.......did you get what i am trying to say?
I hope it's feasable because in this case i would be able to keep original wing and just install a long nose hood and the bumper singer style instead of having to get a fiberglass complete wing with the turn signal.
Thanx

Take a look at TRE. They have the hood you need and all the other bits. If you posted a picture of what exactly you are after we could point you in the right direction.

It seems to me that Dave at TRE has that little insert you are looking for. There are a couple cars below that have "R" corner markers on them:

thanx mateWOW amber, what a beauty!
@ froggert: exactly!!
thanx mate!
@ amber: WOW, what a beauty you got there!!
Now another question taking advantage of your knowledge: do you think that this part would fit without big issues considering that the original wing wil have a welded arch on it for the wide looks?

My experience tells me that fiberglass parts need a lot of work. My ducktail was a bear to get even close to being presentible. The small light bits weren't so bad. The light insert may fit without any fuss or you may have to do all kinds of work, I am not sure what you've got so..... What are your thoughts? You've got your car right in front of you, no?
Yes, this is why i would avoid all the possible fiberglass and use it just when there are no viable alternatives. The tiurn signal casing is small enought to maybe be an easy fit.
No, haven't got the car yet. Sold my 993 a few years ago always having in mind this project and now i am ready to pull the trigger. However i am trying to know in advance in what waters i am getting in. Actually negotiating an 81 targa.
