Post '77 rear sway bar body mount question

The body mount point for the rear bar is completely snapped at the bend. Is this something that has been seen before (think my son may have used it as a jack point!!! What can you say, youthful haste!!).

Thinking of fabricating a thicker insert to weld in.

Any thoughts??

You can try to reweld and strengthen it, or you can use the stronger, improved mount that Porsche sells. Porsche added a reinforcement, since the original mounts do break under certain conditions. You can see a picture of it on p. 198 of Bruce Anderson's "Porsche 911 Performance Handook" 2nd edition. You will need to grind off the old and weld on the new mounts, if you go that route.
