Well, I'd go with my current car (doesn't everybody?), and one other:

1972 3.6 RSR clone:

1996 or 1997 993TT Coupe:

I don't know if it would come in under the 100K ceiling, and I don't know that I'd call it a 'collection' -- but it would make for a nice choice when I walk out to the garage.

I would keep my currents....'88 911 Club Sport, '99 E55 and add an '91 E30 M3.

think it could be done for under 100k if I could find the e30 for mid teens(wish I never sold mine a couple years ago)

I'm absolutley salivating over your RSR Clone!!!! While there may be a 997 in my future, I intend to pursue building that exact toy (at some point) for proper mechanical grin inducing therapy!!!! Can you give a snippet of HP figures? Is it ok for street use or mostly track? Is the 3.6 modded or mostly stock? Loud or neighbor friendly?

thks! and WOW

Thanks. It's a bone stock 1993 3.6-liter motor. It's rated at 247 hp, but headers and a chip were enough to get mine to dyno at 280 (if a 15% drivetrain loss is figued in). It's a street and track car. It's got a leather interior and ice-cold AC, but also a full cage and fire-suppresion system. My DME chip uses a switch that allows me to go between a stock chip (for street/low-octane driving) and a performance-mapped chip (for when I have better gas, at the track). I have carpet and sound deadening, and the muffler is pretty quiet at low revs. It's a pretty pleasant town driver, but also a lot of fun out at Willow Springs.

How about the following (in addition to what I already own - a 79 930 and an 04 Cayenne S. Hmmmm, is that cheating??)......

1974 Carrera - White with Blue accents or Blue with Gold accents
1987 Slant Nose Turbo
1996 993 Twin Turbo

That should just about fit into the $100K budget!

I would drop $15k into this one. Build the 911ST/R that i've been brainstorming for a while now. And with the rest of the money chase down a 993TT...as a winter car.

I would consider adding a 993 RS 3.8 (can you import these yet?) and a very nice Super 90 356 cab if possible, but may have to be 356 coupe to keep it under 100K. I really want another 993, but one that is not still depreciating so much.

That's an interesting looking car...I'd love to hear more about it if you've got the time?

Following the school of thought that a replica is better than the real thing if you plan on beating the snot out of it (and cheaper), here goes some silliness:

SWB 911R clone, built on a carbed, high compression, twin plugged, 906 cammed, 2.7 (or better yet, Carrera 3 case).

934 clone, with a hot CIS 3.3 (Imagine Auto "Big Bad" or similar) with air/water intercooler, just to be different.

Ruf CTR clone, with a hot 3.4 EFI setup (Maybe a twin turbo like Mark Hargett is working on), built on a G50 Carrera, with stock gearing.

It would be close, but it could probably be done for ~100K, if I do as much labor as possible.

993 RS or Turbo and full restoration of my 1983 911SC (sentimental value, my father is the original owner).

Well the thing with the yellow bird is first trying to find one. Then getting the owner drunk enough so you can talk him into selling. Then finding the money. There would be no collection after purchasing that baby. Nonetheless, there is absolutely no finer street Porsche. Would take one in a heartbeat.

Exactly why I said "Ruf CTR clone" 2 posts above. Even if you found one, and bought it, would you really want to flog it? It isn't exactly replacable.

Unless parking it in the garage and rubbing it with a daiper does it for you......
