Default Dash Panel Interchangeable from 964 to early 911?

Hi, I'm looking for advice for my '68 911 project. I'm looking for a dash and am considering some options I've found that were removed from much newer cars (964 and 993). Anyone know if a newer dash will fit an early 911? Even if it's not a simple bolt in, I'm willing to fabricate brackets to make it work. Thanks!

Other than a used 964 or 993 dash panel, here is the only decent option I've found so far for replacing a '68 dash:

Not sure if it fits but it won't look right why not buy an early dashboard - is it just a cost issue?

I did a lot of research on this last year when I was buying my dash. I wound up going with a Lakewell. The answer I found is that yes, you can fit an '86 and up dash in your car with some slight mods. You will need the smile piece that sits against the windshield.

Thanks for your help; I looked up the Lakewell dash and it looks like a good option.

I don't know if it's a cost issue; how much is a nice early OE dash? Do you know a good place to find one, used or new?

Why not have the original dash refinished???

I though OE went out the window when you headed to 964/993 dash?

Not sure if you can get OE but plenty AM.
