Engine Numbers ???????

Cool Engine Numbers ???????

Under the my new car cleaning and noted the engine numbers I have a 1987 911 the engine number is 930 105 111 2R, can someone let me know if this is a 930 engine or normal number for this year?? Thanks. John

John,

The number you cited is a Porsche part number for one of the case halves on your engine and it sounds correct for your model car. Looks like you have a normally-aspirated Motronic 3.2 liter engine (BTW - your engine looks clean).

What you cited is the engine casting number. Your engine number is on a vertical boss at the base of the fan on the right side. An '87 engine with catalytic converter should be in the serial range 64H 00001 to 64H 10000.
