Missing badly throughout the RPM's
Yes, this is a cross post you may have seen elsewhere. I'm just looking for a general sequence of troubleshooting/replacement. Have a terrible missfire w/o any backfire or snotting out of the MFI stacks. Good initial throttle response and no black smoke at idle or bumping the throttle.
Timing and dwell close, but not perfect because of the missing. Can readjust when things smooth out a bit.
But, running on 4 or 5 at best. Going to replace the plug wires. No reason, just gonna do it, they're old. Same with points, and plugs, although they look good. After that, if I still have the miss, what is the next likely changeout? Coil? CD box? Do I swap in another of each to check for malfunction, or is there a surefire symtom to lead me down a certain path? A test perhaps.
You know, troubleshooting is one of the things that is light in most books. Like to hear what you do when working down the list.
