Default question about H4 upgrade

Hello,
As a new owner of an (almost) totally stock '83 SC. I have been making some
upgrades. Today I tried to fit the new H4 head lights. It sees the black ring does not seat around the head lamp bucket, it is too small to fit around, it doesn't click in and
there is a gap. I even tried to fit it without the gasket and without the screw
just to see if it would sit, it doesn't't. It is close but not tight. It doesn't even touch the gasket in some places. Seems like the flange or edge of the bucket is just a bit to
wide. Same problem left and right lights. Stock lamps came off easily.
Really like the look of the newer H4's on the older Porsche's. Incidentally I also
have H4 lamps on my '86 VW and they are recommendo.
Other upgrades: pop-off valve (no problem), new seat belt 15 min.(nice!), Oxygen sensor, very easy with a little liquid wrench ( 2nd question: how easy is it to get the
"oxy" lamp to shut out? Is pulling the speedo a big problem?)
THANKS TO ALL. Rennlist is a fine education indeed.
Jt

To answer my own question: Talked to a guy from Pelican, he said the Balck rings are shipped with waaay to many clips in the back and that I should remove as many as possible so it makes a seal. It still problematic, only one maks a perfect seal.
