1974 911/911S steering wheel
Did 1974s come with the four-spoke standard, and three-spoke optional? I've seen ads for a few cars, all with claims of high authenticity, some have the 3 and some have the 4.

Rick Brooklyn,
1974 sales brochure shows the Carrera as the only model that comes with the leather cover sports steering wheel as stock ( 3 Spoke). Could be ordered as an option on the S.
FYI - 1975 sales brochure exactly the same

Thanks, so it wasn't available on the base 911 (non S) even as an option?

The sales brochure doesn't get that specific- but in rereading it this morning one could assume it could be ordered as an option.
If originality is your concern , you can remove the horn "cover" and there will be a manufacture date code on the backside. You would at least be able to discover if it was from 1974.

The 1974 care had as OEM wheels a very simple and boring 4 spoke wheel--a large rectangular pad in the center. Three spoke wheels came much later--around the time of the SCs.
