I did do a search, but couldn't find clear info. Will 964 seats bolt into an 86 Carrera? If so are they "plug-n-play"? The 964 seats are from a 1990.

seats will fit. bolt pattern is the same.
no change until the 996/1997-8 production.
btw, if you ever find a pair of sweet, 996 sports seats, there are only a few minor differences;
you have to drill the rear mount points, but the rails line up.
only the lips on the front of the rails need to be banged flat.
electronics require only a bit of splicing.

Just an update in case someone else has same question. Obviously the rails and seats bolt right up, but the wiring and plugs worked perfectly. No modification needed. Done!
