Default 2 or 3 fitting Fuel Accumulator

Hello!

My dad picked up a 1977 911S. It had a swapped 3.0 SC (930/06) engine into it. The Fuel Accumulator (FA) we tested bad (fuel dripped from bottom fitting when blow in top fitting and plugged 2nd top fitting), so we want to replace it.

The current FA has the bottom fitting plugged. Haynes is showing that there should be a return fuel line to the gas tank connected to this bottom fitting, but we have not been able to find a return line.

Did the 1977 2.7 engines have a return line for the FA? Wondering if when the 3.0 was swapped in the bottom FA fitting was plugged because there was not a return line. Pelican parts sells the 3 fitting for 77-79 and 2 fitting for 74-76, but part numbers are not matching up with http://jimsbasementworkshop.com/CIS/...cross_ref.html.

My guess is that I should replace FA with a 3 fitting one and tap a return fuel return line in the gas tank.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks!
