Default Fabspeed RSR Header/Muffler Review

Fabspeed recently had a nice Christmas sale and I picked up one of their RSR header/muffler packages. Here's my initial review after driving the car for a couple days:

> The sound is WAY different than the Fabspeed Supercup paired with the Euro pre muffler. it's more refined. It has more of a rumble at idle. But when you start driving, you get a lot more air-cooled sound. The Supercup sounded way more aggressive if you can believe that. I really thought there would be a lot more sound. They do make muffler bypass pipes for the headers and I thought about trying them out - but I'm worried the car would then be TOO loud. Nick at Fabspeed did say that the setup would get louder overtime once the wool packs in.

> There is zero drone in the cab. It's very quiet.

> There are two oil lines that have to be replaced/rerouted so the headers will fit. 911-107-739-10-M127 - One (1) needed. 911-107-729-10-M127 - For cars WITH a Front Oil Cooler or 911-107-728-00-M20 - For cars WITHOUT a front oil cooler. A roll of heat wrap to wrap the lower oil return line is needed as well.

> The car feels like it can breath better. It runs very smooth.

> By the gauge, my engine temp is 50% cooler now. It's AMAZING. It is colder out, but after driving 70mph for over an hour, the gauge only made it halfway to the first bar.

> I think I lost a tad of mid-range, but powerband is very nice. Overall, the car is "peppier."

Here is a video and some install pictures:

Great looking products/car and I really like the wrapped section.
I had fabspeed comp headers, cats, mufflers, and intake on a C4S and received so many compliments on the sound even from some instructors at a few DE events I went to.
Enjoy.

I installed the same system in my 89 when it had a 3.2 and it worked as well when i transplanted a 95 3.6, the fit and quality of the Fabspeed system is really nice although i do get some droning between 2-3 K rpms.Going to try those motorcycle inserts that slip into the tailpipes, they seem to have good reviews on the forums.

I did pretty much the same as you with the oil lines and the wrapping ,gotta love that sound !

Cheers
Phil

Thanks, guys.

Phil, I had a terrible drone when I was running my M&K GT3 style exhaust. I put active baffles in and that solved the issue. They work great.

A big sell feature for this exhaust is that it works on both the 3.2 and the 3.6. So if I do a swap like I want to, I don't have to get a whole new system.

Chad thank you very much for the wonderful review! This quality feedback is crucial towards assisting the Porsche community in making an educated decision on enhancing their vehicles. Although you are in Georgia, if you'd every like to make a trip up to our facility we would love to have you stop by for a tour of our showroom and product development process. By the way...completely agree with tgil on the valance

Thank you tgil, wildcat, and niels for the kind words! Please reach out any time if there is anything we can do to assist in your projects.

As Chad has mentioned he is running a full kit with no cats and dual exit and has experienced no drone. For those customers that are considering this package, please know that resonance/drone is a subjective topic and in saying that we know there are some who are very sensitive to this occurrence and are looking to minimize the potential if this happening. This kit does come with the options of adding sport cats, and capping the passenger-side muffler exit. Both of these options will further minimize the risk of experiencing any resonance/drone with our full RSR Header Muffler Kits
