Default 1973 911 turn signal malady

I am resuscitating a 73 E coupe that is complete but has been in storage for the last 20+ years. I now have all the electrics working with a single exception that I would appreciate help with. I cannot get the drivers front turn signal to work despite replacing bulbs, confirming grounds, and replacing the flasher relay. In addition the 4 way flashers only work intermittently, and when they do the front drivers signal does not work either. After poring over the wiring diagrams it appears that the signal wires route through the flasher switch. Is my flasher switch the likely culprit? Anyone ever run into this and have any suggestions?

Many thanks, Mark

It could be the actual turn signal switch... I am having to replace mine in the '81 SC...

Others with more knowledge will sure chime in.

Also, welcome to Rennlist!!

make sure you are using the correct wattage bulbs in your turn signals.

It is the correct wattage bulb, and I have confirmed by swapping side to side.

Thanks for the welcome. I have been looking forward to this project for a long time but it took two years to find the right car to start with.

Mark, do share photos when you can. We love photos

Another good site that is dedicated to the earlier 911 is: http://w.early911sregistry.org/forums/forum.php

In case you are not aware of it. Lots of good info there as well.

Problem solved. As it happens the rear and right front turn signals are on fuse 8 and the left front is fuse 9, which was intact but corroded. I have been working through the circuits starting with fuse 1; I guess there are limitations to that approach! There is probably a story as to why three turn signals are on one fuse and one is on it's own circuit.

Jaime, I will post some pictures. I am getting the car ready for complete disassembly but I want to get everything working before i take it apart. I am very excited about this project. I looked for 2+ years to find a suitable chassis to replace my 73 911E that I foolishly sold in 1990 when the kids wouldn't fit in the back any more.

You have a pretty fantastic list of projects yourself.
