1974 911 C2 2.7 Value/Pricing Advice
Hey guys, most of you know me from the Classified section posting cars for Porsche of North Houston.
I have a client that has just inherited a car from his uncle that has recently passed and he has reached out to me for some advice on value and pricing should he be interested in selling in the future.
While I have a lot of experience with other cars, this series and year model is beyond that experience. I thought this community would be a good place to inquire as some of you have or have had experience with something like this.
The car is a 1974 911 2.7 with approximately 86k original miles and is an all original 2 owner car. There is no paintwork and is accident free.
The owner states that the car was in storage for a few years and he has since taken it to Eurocar-Werk here in Houston and spent about $8k on services and parts. At this time I am unaware of the exact work done but it is documented with receipts.
The car is currently at VIVE auto detailing here in Houston having the CQuartz ceramic coating applied and these are the only pictures I have currently to show in this thread.
Any advice on value or pricing would be greatly appreciated and I'm sure if once he decides to sell he will have me post an ad here in the classifieds.
Thanks again
John

Based on the vin that's a US Carrera. And based on the story I bet that duck is real too. Sport seats. nice color. Low mileage. No sunroof. That car is $40-50k all day long. Might be more if the finer details check out.
I'm sure you are getting PM offers already. Don't let your client get hosed.

Once the dealer figures one or two, expect them to ask $70-80k for this cat, going by their pricing history on cars. Nice of him to ask for advice. Generates exposure too.

With only 528 of those ever made, prime original examples are rare. The A/C compressor is not original, but thats a small detail.

Sorry, I couldn't see the black ring indicating a sunroof when I was on my phone earlier.
I do agree that this COULD be a $75k+ car but 4 pictures on the internet don't tell much. I would want to see the undercarriage and frunk in detail. And I would want to see the engine BEFORE it got dolled up with a steam cleaning.

These jacks are asking stupid money for a fully restored example. I would say its a $75k vehicle if everything checks out.

And here I was all set to see a '74 non-S, in some horrendous mid-'70s German practical joke color. (To go with everyone's **** carpet and avocado appliances.)
Only thing missing from this unicorn is if it were a ROW 911/83 MFI car.

Thank you very much for the feed back so far guys. The car should be finished with its detail process soon and he will bring it by to let us have a look. I'll get some better pics and post them up.

Fortunately, it looks like an unmolested car! That will assist in the price.
When the 1974 model year cars were introduced to the USA, they offered, for the first time, the duck tail that you see. They also began to get rid of chrome trim here and there, if ordered. The only models available were either a "911S" or a "Carrera" which yours is the latter. Here's an image from the outside of a 1974 Porsche catalog. The second shows a friend's 1974 in sand beige next to my 1981 turbo'ed SC in bamboo beige. Duck tail (right) compared to early whale tail (left). Note as well the differences in the rear bumperettes from the earlier 1974 narrow bumperettes to the larger ones found soon afterward on the 911S, SCs and Carreras.
