Default Boxter arrogance

Last weekend my wife and I spent 3days 2nights in the Napa Valley (beautiful) we have a 1981SC as we were driving around visiting winery's I flashed six Boxter's I did not get one response back, am I being sensitive, is it 911 intimidation, or Boxter arrogance?

Probably "newbies", wondering why that guy is flashing them.

Probably ignored you because you can't spell "Boxster"! Anyway, I was shocked to get a wave from a 996 Cabriolet driver today... they NEVER wave!

They probably wondered why that guy in the "PORSH" was waving. These days only the guys in the air cooled cars wave. I always wait for the Boxter to wave first.

There's a similar thread right now on PP. Been discussed to death but the long and short seems to be that new Porsche owners may not know about the "wave".

Jeep owners wave at each other too. When I bought my first Wrangler, the salesman filled me in on the whole wave thing. It's the Porsche dealers at fault here!

Kind of an offensive opening statement. Boxster Arrogance, I think just new uninformed owners? I wave at all Porsches regardless of which one I am in. It seems only the older, pre-993, crowd is consistent in returning the wave. When I had the 356 Carrera, 911 owners did not return my wave. At the local dealership in Sacramento, the friendly sales people wanted to 'upgrade' me to a 914. It seems like history repeating itself, only tolerance and education will change it.

People that own the older cars are more likely to be enthusiasts & perhaps they stand a better chance of waiving back.

I've never had a Boxster driver wave back, & only 1 996 driver in the 2 years I've owned my 964.

BTW - I do not flash (the lights) at anyone any more. In Southern Maryland, the police, both sheriff and state, began giving tickets probably three years ago for "illegal use of a signalling device". I believe the law was originally intended to get those who were using their flashers, or rapidly flashing headlights to get people to move out of their way. Of course, for a long time, flashing headlights is used to warn of impending speed trap. Warnings of this type directly interfere with revenue collection. I mentioned this a few years back on the list when this flasher thread came up. Some, who were indignant, suggested that a good approach would be to challenge this abuse of the law. But, quite frankly, it is not worth my time to sit by the side of the road for 45 minutes while a state trooper runs my tags and license through his computer, and then spend more time taking this to court.

I have not waved at a Cayenne driver yet - I am not sure that I would recognize one in traffic.

I don't mind not having "the wave" returned. I've probably missed a few over the years.

But man, oh man. I got it, but good the other day.

Rolled down the on ramp at a good clip, and a Boxster rolled into the fast lane with me. We were going along pretty well, did a few lane changes to pass slower cars. I thought we had a Porsche "moment."

I slow to make my exit and give a casual wave to the Boxster as it passes. The beautiful blonde at the wheel gave me THE LOOK. The "dream on, old timer" look. The "I'm waaay out of your league" look. I think "withering" is the name.

She thought I was flirting!!!
