Default alt/fan pulley -- which direction to turn to remove?

I'm having a heck of a time trying remove the nut that holds the pulley.

I want to make sure I am turning it the proper way.

If I set my ratchet to turn CCW (with 10mm TriSquare) and I try to turn the nut clockwise -- it doesn't move.

I tried to move it the other way around - but with less effort for fear of making it worse. no movement that way either.

Added a little WD40 to soak in, but no luck after sitting for a little bit.

Figured I'd ask before I do something wrong.

thx.

I'm not sure I understand tri square ???

Use the pulley holding tool. I usually turn the nut until the pulley holding tool rests against something.
Btw it's ccw. Lefty loosey.

What are you driving. ?

1996 993 Tip Cab.

The 10mm tri-square (12 pt) is a male socket that fits exactly into the pulley.

Like about 99.9% of automotive fasteners, the nut is a RH thread, meaning you are going backwards, as described.
