Post 911 missfire - help needed

I have an 82 911 SC. A couple of months ago, I left the car idling in the driveway when I went back into the house to take a phone call. When I came out about 10 minutes later, it was still idling, but very rough. I tried to drive it and it would not go - engine revs but no power. Eventually it died altogether. I thoght it might be an injection problem and checked out the Kjetronic unit, but it seems to be pumping just fine.

I started the car and it drove like a dream (better than ever in the 2 years I've had it) then after about 5 mins, started to missfire and eventually cut out altogether.

Now it starts from cold every time, but has no power. As it heats up, it gets worse.

Any ideas - other than taking it to a mechanic?
