Climate-Controlled Storage: Need the Facts
Does anyone have some real facts or can point me to published articles regarding storing an older 911 over winter in NON-climate controlled storage (I'm talking sub-15 degree winters).
I've stored my '86 Carrera for the last 5 winters in an enclosed storage unit, and per the guidelines discussed in many threads. After the third year of cold storage, the car's fist oil leaks appeared - as well as squeaks, rattles, etc. Maybe it's coincidence that the car finally started to leak oil after 27 years, but I'm convinced that it is the consequence of taking the cheap route.
Seems that available threads talk mostly about procedures for general winter storage; not about impact of cold storage in any detail. I think having some technical facts from qualified sources on this subject may help owners extend their car's life (or save $$ without shortening the car's life).
Any info you can share would be great!
