Default Another 'expert eyes needed' thread

'Morning everyone,

I really want to know your thoughts on a specific 82 SC with rather low miles that doesn't sell. It looks like a pretty desirable car all around and I can't tell why people seem to avoid it.

The car was listed 2 or 3 times as 'buy it now' and never sold, so I assume a few people on here stumbled on the ad.
Ebay link

The owner said it was wrapped in vinyl, that they removed which peeled about 10% of the clear coat. There is no doubt the car will need a respray but even though I feel like it's a pretty clean example of kinda low miles SC.
I have pictures of the engine bay, it's not the cleanest but looks in okay shape.
A PPI is virtually impossible for me (distance) so it might have to be a leap of faith.

Any insight appreciated before I regret my decision (or love it forever).

Thanks!

Hm, this is strange it works fine for me.

here's a link to the old post when the car was wrapped in vinyl. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-Porsche...p2047675.l2557

and it's listed at dallas motorsports here : http://www.dallasmotorsports.com/web...exas/19140245/

hope that works!

thanks

If it's the red wine one, the front looks weird plus the rock guards look too big. I think there were comments on this car either here or pelican a few days ago.

Alright, I found the thread, here it is : http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...worth-25k.html

Pretty helpful but if people anyone has more comments or note about the seller and the car, it's all welcome.

On another note, since the wrap removal created a clear coat failure, how urgent would a repaint be?

The rockers are beat to hell, makes me wonder what is under the wrap that was left on. I'm guessing rust. all the pictures avoid all the important spots. all in all looks really rough IMHO

I'd pass on that car. To much unknowns, get a complete PPI if your interested. Find a reputable shop in the area. A couple hundred dollars is worth it compared to buying a POS site unseen which will cost thousands to fix. Nice SC's are out there if your patient. Searched the US for close to a year before I found this SC ten miles from my home.

Fantastic car.

Sadly I've been looking for about 16 months and I can't find anything which makes me say "It's the one".
I guess I don't have 30k+ to drop, more about 25 so the problem lays there.

Thanks for the advices on this SC.

there is another sc with a 3.2 in my area for 26 cad so they are out there.

I wanted to aggressively negotiate the SC in my original post but now it's too much risk anyway.

@theiceman - care to send me a message with a link to that SC on sale you're talking about? thanks!

I would run from that car. It has just far too many ??

I was sent a link from a friend who is trying to help a friend sell this SC.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/171980495285

I have never seen the car or know the owner but I was told it is a clean car. The seller will take less than asking price. Might be worth a look but I can't vouch for it personally.
