Save The Salt - a Road Scholars 911 article
Please take a moment to visit this Porsche 911 article online at Road Scholars Magazine:
<a href="http://roadscholars.com/searching-for-salt-all-dressed-up-with-nowhere-to-go-at-bonneville-speedway/"><em>Searching For Salt</em></a>
Also linked on my blog: http://randywells.com/blog/?p=8246
Here's an excerpt:
"Want to go 200 mph? Call 911.
That’s what Tom Woodford of California feels like doing after being denied a chance of attaining that magic number at Utah’s Bonneville Speedway for the last two years in a row. With each year it’s becoming more and more difficult for the event organizations to find four miles of hard salt on which to get into the 200 mph club. Last year, there was only the USFRA event that celebrated 100 years of auto racing on the famed course. This year there will be no automotive events at what has traditionally been the land speed capitol of the world. That’s something that hasn’t happened since the ‘90s."
What’s the reason for this sudden change? To find out, please read the article. Thanks for your support:

Thank you for sharing. Great photographs and inspiring personal story. It is always so refreshing to learn of unique applications of air-cooled 911s like this one, where the greatness of old-school engineering continues to be applied for the purpose of pushing the limits, which is especially unique in contrast with today's trendy-techy-drive-by-wire-electronic-nanny-everything world.
Other inspiring stories like this one that come to mind are what Jeff Zwart did back in the day with his Pikes Peak climbs on his old school 964.

Great to see attempts continuing.
Locally, we had Denny Kahler with several attempts ~30 years ago. I think some 356 guys predated that. And we can't forget Al Holbert with the stock 928S4 (that ended up with Mark Kibort here locally as his Club and Pro Racer).
