Default Looking for a mechanic to evaluate my car

I recently bought my 79 SC with 150K miles on her. I feel like there are a few issues with the car, probably due to the heavy wear.

-acceleration in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears is boggy
-getting some pops/backfires like after removing throttle after an acceleration burst
-hissing sound from front left as though a leak in pressure somewhere
-would like to do a leak down test
-possibly a dynometer test

Basically get a 'bill of health' run through where I can make a plan of where I want to invest to tighten up the ship. She's a good car overall.

Does anyone have a good shop recommendation? I am in West Los Angeles. Are there any individuals who work on these cars that are maybe more reasonable to work with?

Thanks for any input on this.
Tony

Marc is the likely the guy for you.

See the thread tagged to the top of the 911 board that says: "Admin: The Pre-Purchase Inspection by Peter Zimmermann"....well, Red Line Services used to belong to Peter. Marc worked for Peter and purchased the shop a number of years ago.

Welcome to 911 ownership. You will quickly find that you get what you pay for. Go find a cheap mechanic who works out of his home and good luck getting your issues sorted. Redline is a great option. Give Marc a ring.

There are a dozen very good shops a stone's throw from you.
