Fan shroud interchangability
I found out recently that I need a new fan shroud on my 1980 SC. The part # on the one I took off the car is 901 106 101 5R, which looks to be for a 1969-1977 911???? I thought it looked to be original to the engine and the engine original to the car.
Through a Search, I found that the 1980 fan shroud # is 930 106 102 OR. Are these interchangeable?

I would not think so given they are different part numbers , but the fact you had an older one on your car would indicate it is in fact useable.
having said that could yours have cracked because it was not in fact beefy enough so they went to a beefier one ?
Where is the part number ? mine is sitting in the garage with the alternator in it , if you would like I can see what is on my 78 .

So, this confirms what I've seen. I have shroud # 3 on your list, which is used from 1967.5 - '77. Now, I am wondering if I have a 2.7 engine instead of the 3.0 ! Or, if someone changed the shroud...if they are interchangeable. Size-wise #3 and #5 on your list are both 245mm. So, as long as there are no mounting changes, it could be feasible.
I can't wait to get home and check out my engine #

that looks like it could be an 80 engine ...
there is no hole in the tinwork for a smog pump and the fuel lines look like they could be nylon. in 80 I think they went to an oxygen sensor and no smog pump buy still had nylon fuel lines , although its hard to tell from the pic.
the engine number will tell us for sure.

looks like it was used up to 77 with the same casting number ... . I think you want to get the one for your car for sure . I would not interchange , although the specs look close.
