Air cooled values down the road....

Well my head wants to explode every time I look at this thread. Seriously....who the heck cares if they go up or down in value? I wrote the money off as soon as it was spent.
Compared to my other cars the Porsche was cheap money. My Toyota, Ford, and Chevy each cost me more than the 911 cost to purchase...
Again, if you are worried about the car going down in value just take a look at your other cars. Are you really that delusional? Cars go down in value something like 20% per year.

Much as I love my '86 coupe ( $18k in '00), would I but it for $30k today?

There's a difference between having a hobby and having a collection.

Wow this is what we have come too.
I have to say the initial topic was wrong. I find that I come across a lot of young kids 16-26 that are very into the older cars. Just as I see more and more unplugging and finding interest in when technology meant something more than an app or an upgrade.
Vinyl records and air cooled 911's are back in vogue. I always crack up when I drive buy and get the thumbs up from kids on skate boards and others in their Subaru racing up to give me the thumbs up. If anything I had seen a loss of interest years ago and a resurgence of all ages now.
BTW who said no driverless cars?

Why wait 25 years? I would buy McCrae's car, or one of Burnsie's cars in an instant if I had the cash. Or a 22B? Those are as rare as 964 C4S lightweights.
