Default 1980 SC Id plate- trunk?

hey guy's, can someone confirm if the 1980 USA 911's came with a metal VIN plate riveted on the passenger side inside fender? I actually have the rivet holes but no plate, my guess it was lost when my car was repainted back in 86 and never put back on by the shop. According to Porsche-classic my 911 is a "G" series model, Stoddard now offers a 911 SC "G" series id plate for $60.00. Some folks say yes it did, some say no only ROW. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Yes,...all 911's of that vintage had the aluminum data plate. Its one of the three places where one can see the VIN.
