Hi all,
Rock trashed the windshield on my 86 Targa Saturday, I am getting a new windshield installed this week, Insurance is covering it and I am having a company that did a great job on my 951 install the glass and replace the seal.
They are using factory Porsche glass and seal, anything else I should look out for?
Thanks!

nope...front windshield replacement is pretty easy and straight forward (just talked to porsche people who put in my front windshield and targa glass about 4 weeks ago). Now, if you were replacing the rear targa glass...that is another story!
I just did my shield and rear window, etc..
- I would/did use 3M Windo-Weld 999 sealant at least one week after install. one month is better.
- I would not drive it for at least 24hrs after install.
- I would use Por-15 on any frame rust
- I would install gasket on window at least 24hrs before install.
- I would check operation of antenna and glass wire heater after install.
- I would confirm the glass mfg. because Sigla was bought out by LOF
- I would confirm gasket outer lip is spaced/seated properly to the tub.

I just picked up my car this morning from the glass shop. I didn't realize how pitted my old windshield was until looking thru my nice new one. A pleasant surprise, a sigla glass was installed. And I checked for a gap or a misfit in upper left corner but everything looks even.
