I want to put some aluminum pedals in my 84. Does anyone have any suggestions on which brand to get? Also, should I get a dead pedal with the set? There doesn't seem to be a spot for it, like my other cars.
thanks for the advice,
Chris

Check out www.rennline.com also. I like their stuff. They also have aluminum replacements for the wood floor boards.

I like the OMP Pedal Set # 1020 http://www.ompusa.com/pedals.htm combined with the AJ USA Dead Pedal/Foot rest http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/pb/list?cat_id=19

Anyone tried Rennline's new fully-adjustable gas pedal? At $250 for the one pedal, it's pricey, but top and bottom of the pedal are independently adjustable. It would be great (for me) to bring the top of the pedal up to the level of the brake pedal under moderate pressure.

The nice thing about the AJ pedals that Mark pictured is that the gas pedal is a replacement hinged pedal that bolts in place of the old plastic one. The only other mfr. that offers this feature (that I know of) is the new Rennline gig.
I don't mind drilling and screwing the alum. pads onto metal, as you need to do on the clutch and brake levers. I don't like the idea of fastening the gas pad onto the original plastic pedal. Just my opinion.
A good idea for an extra margin of safety (you don't want your pedals falling off) is to drill the clutch and brake levers so you can tap the holes. This was Mark's idea, not mine. So now you have holes which are threaded and nutted on the backside with locking nuts. Might be overkill, but I like it nonetheless.

I would recommend the Wings Engineering pedal (check Excellence) and stick with your rubber clutch and brake pedals. No matter how many cuts they put into an aluminum pedal it will still slip and you want the best grip possible with your brake and clutch. A dead pedal is a very good idea to help prevent the carpet from becoming too warn.

Good point about the slippage.
I was operating my car with dress/casual shoes last week and the semi-smooth soles of the shoes would slide on the brake pedal pad pretty easily if I wasn't careful where I placed my foot.
Cool thing about the AJ pedals is you can get the street version with the rubber inserts.
Also a good idea if your carpet is already worn like mine!

I'll second the Wings Engineering throttle pedal. Makes heel-and-toeing a snap, is adjustable in three planes and looks great.
I had Rennline's clutch, brake and dead pedal in my old '85 Carrera and transferred everything to my 993. Rennline has some nice raised sections on the brake and clutch pedal that prevents slipping. I have been surprised at the grip on my shoes, although I don't wear hard-soled, dress shoes too often.
