Sloppy shifting 1982 911

Default Sloppy shifting 1982 911

So now ive been driving a decent amount

My shifter feels sloppy muddy
Especially going into first second

Therres alot of play in the shifter

Clutch and syncros are newer

Im 99% its the shifter

Theres nothing spring loaded correct?

Is this "normal" ?

You might want to check your shifter bushings, especially the ball cup shift bushing

Also the shift coupler, which is in the panel on the center tunnel, just in front of the rear seats. That coupler should be rebuilt or replaced if the bushings are worn.

You need a seine gate shift kit, short shifter, and solid coupler and new bushings. Gets you to 90%

Or solid coupler, new bushings, wevo shifter and internal gate kit. Best option. Gets you to 110%

yeah im thinking your rear coupler bushings are crumbling, its about 20 bucks worth of parts for that and the donut and cup bushing, will get you going while you look at JR's options for long term solution.
