So is this a good one, or are the mechanics using it because it is cheap?

Good to know. I got curious when I did not see anyone recommend it in this thread.

Thanks for the response.

I'm not so sure about this. This is because zddp was removed under pressure of car manufacturers. For destroying cats. I heard that the only way around it is to call it racing oil. I am not saying you are wrong. Just that I'm not sure. Anyone have any independent data that shows that m1 has enough additives and the others do not ?

Good info here supplied by all of rstarga's posts.....

At the 2013 Porsche Parade at Grand Traverse Bay, MI, a tech session was given with an engineering guru from Mobil 1 and he concurred with the above information. Alot of the misinformation regarding the ppm of zinc is being promoted by competitors in the marketplace. This was a Porsche sponsored and attended event..... as well as many owners of various makes and models of Porsches.

I have have also used it in all my Porsches (15/50 M1) on the street and on the track. I have not had any oil related, actually NO engine failures of any type in any Porsche I own. The previous owners to the cars I bought as used cars on the market, had also used it and was a major selling point on maint. to me when I bought those cars......

And I too agree, the BEST oil is clean oil but it has to be in the correct weight for your application and climate. See your Porsche Owner's manual for confirmation on those specs and uses.

( 15/50 M1 in personal usage in my 944 N/As, 944 Turbo, and 911 Carrera. As well as my Toyota daily drivers in a 0/20 wt. as per their recommendations )
