Heya Folks
I have recently purchased a 1979 SC that has been converted to 1989 3.2L with the standard 3.2 EMS as well (is it Motronic).
I am fairly certain that it is running the 915 box and not the G50.
To the chase.....
I had a non start issue last week and when I got home to try the ether in the intake to check if the non start issue was fuel or spark related it started right up and has continued to do so all week.
BUT I know i was lucky that it failed at home and not out on the road.
Trawling thru numerous non start threads and they all seem to reference the DME relay and or speed sensor (or crank sensor as I know it) as the main culprits.
I looked under my passenger seat (LH) and there is what looks like a brain.
Is the DME part of the brain or will it sit elsewhere like under the front hood near the fuse box or in the relays along the inside of LH fender where my fuel pump relay and A/C relay is located.
Also how have they mated the later engine to the 915 gearbox....with an adapter or something of the like..?? and how common is the swap out.

okay lots going on here
In 84 the 3.2 Carrera had the 915 transmission and was a factory direct fit. This sounds like what you have
In 87 they went to the g50 transmission mated to the 3.2 and I believe also went to bigger torsion bars.
I'm not sure what constitutes upgrading it to an 89
Anyway your dme and dme relay should both be under the drivers seat. But since yours was done Afterwards who knows
Lots of pics in the net of the configuration

The DME relay will be right next to the DME under the driver's seat. LOL.... I believe Aussies will find it under the passenger seat.
The swap is very common. Everything bolts right up. The hard part is the wiring harness.
