Porsche RS 1973 Cylinder Help
Merry Christmas to all
I have a question I am in final rebuild stage of my Porsche RS 73
& i have just got word back on my Clearances which are a little
out of tolerances ?
Cyl 1 45/65/48
Cyl 2 50/55/50
Cyl 3 45/53/45
Cyl 4 45/53/45
Cyl 5 53/48/45
Cyl 6 53/53/45
Is this fine or should i opt to purchase new Cylinders & Pistons?
Kindest Regards
Ben

I would measure the piston ring lands to see if they are worn to spec or not. If they are, you would buy a new set of Mahle 90mm P/C's.
If the pistons are well within spec, you could have your cylinders re-plated and honed back to the proper size. You will need to send a piston so the cylinders can be sized correctly.

Thank you Steve really appreciate the help
The Strange thing is that i have documented that the
car has only done 14,300km though the first 8,000
were racing in Asia then went into storage for over
30yrs

When judging engine parts, the only thing that matters is condition and this means measuring everything very carefully to see if its usable or not.
