87 911 Carrera - front drivers seat switch no longer works, rear switch does, however,
the assembly I have is one piece including both switches, with no apparent way of separating them....replacement switches come as separate units, what's up??

The switches pop out of the face plate. There are two tabs on the back side that have to be depressed. Press in the tabs and push the switch out the front.
I would spray some contact cleaner inside that switch and work it a bunch of times before you replace it. I had one that seemed like it was dead but after doing some reading dirty contacts are a very common issue which causes them not to work. Few good sprays of contact cleaner and working the switch back and forth a bunch then letting it dry has the switch working good as new again.
